The official opening of SISTRR will take
place on October 5th at the State Key Laboratory of Loess and Quaternary Geology at the
Institute of Earth Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences Xian, China
Welcome to
the homepage of the Sino-Swedish Centre for Tree-Ring Research (SISTRR). SISTRR, which is an cooperative effort between the Institute of Earth Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in Xian, China and the Regional Climate Group, Department of Earth Sciences, University of Gothenburg, Sweden and was launched in 2008. The aim of SISTRR is to investigate tree-ring related research
questions in Northern Europe and China, especially regarding climate
teleconnections between the two regions. One of the priorities of SISTRR
is to establish extensive tree-ring chronologies from both regions, which will
be the base of climate research, using tree rings as annually-resolved
proxy climatic data. Together with paleoclimate models, these climate proxies can provide us with better knowledge about past climate variability. Professors Yu Liu and Hans Linderholm are the directors and founders of SISTRR (see Contacts for details)
We are in the process of constructing this homepage, but it will be
updated continuously.
